Primula – assorted

The stunning Primula includes around 400 different species. Primula is the type genus for the primrose (Primulaceae) family and takes its name from the Italian word for spring, primavera. Primulas have been recognized to play a minor role in herbal medicines and some have been used for astringent and mildly sedative properties. The Primula develops basal foliage with heavily veined leaves. The flower stems can range from 2.5 – 5cm tall depending on the species. Primula’s prefer moist, rich, well-drained soil, filtered sunshine and twice weekly watering. The dainty flowers come in shades of pink, white, mauve and carmine.
